Austin, Texas-based Jomo Edwards is recognized for his unique blend of wry humor and insightful observations in his songwriting. Drawing from his life in a small West Texan ranching community, Jomo's songs offer a distinctive perspective on everyday experiences and the world at large. His songwriting skills have been acknowledged in prestigious competitions, including winning first place in the 2021 Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at Merlefest.



Jomo's talents extend beyond competitions; his music has featured in a 2021 Superbowl advertisement and was incorporated into the storyline of the popular TV series 'Yellowstone'. He leads the Americana band Jomo & The Possum Posse, known for their imaginative lyrics and dynamic performances, which have attracted a dedicated fanbase. The band has toured extensively, playing in various venues from New York to Alaska. Host Jack Ingram of The Texas Music Scene compared Jomo's songwriting to renowned artists like Todd Snider and Bob Dylan, highlighting his unique narrative style. Film critic Frank Moraes praised the band's distinctive sound, recognizing their potential for greatness.



Jomo's latest project, 'Yesterday’s Coffee', is an 11-track album that reflects his experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. Produced by Kevin Russell of Gourds/Shinyribs, with contributions from Shinyribs drummer Keith Langford and long-time collaborator Jes Clifford on bass, the album represents a mix of solo and collaborative work. It's an introspective journey through recent events, showcasing Jomo's evolving artistry in what's considered his best work to date.
