Datura

Datura (AKA Jessica Pyrdsa) is a Lockhart, TX based artist whose piano-driven sound blends jazz, folk, and poetic storytelling. After honing her craft in Atlanta and Austin, where she co-founded Jazz Kween, hosts an annual Tom Waits tribute, and played the city’s major clubs, she released her self-titled debut in 2016 and singles including Hotel Lobby and Kind of Love.
Her new album Saint Cecilia (2025) reveals both her sharp wit and confessional depth, pairing the sly groove of Ain’t No Honky Tonks with the haunting, cinematic title track. With the smoky intimacy of Lana Del Rey and the grit of Tom Waits, Datura delivers music that lingers.
Her work has been described as “pure emotional wreckage” (Kevin Curtin, Austin Chronicle) and “existential ennui” (American Songwriter), echoing the raw intensity and poetic edge at the heart of her sound.
